Who is Who in the Trust

Members

Mike Kerrigan

In his professional life Mike has experience of working in Finance and Information Technology.  He is currently self-employed as an IT Consultant and spends his time designing solutions, identifying issues and writing software for large global IT systems.  The systems supported fully integrate all areas of business operations including sales, purchasing, finance, manufacturing and distribution.  Mike also manages development projects for his clients and occasionally provides training and guidance to users and other developers.  He has been a Governor since 2007 and has been Chair since 2009, during which time the school improved its Ofsted rating from Satisfactory to Outstanding.  He was designated as a National Leader of Governance in March 2013 and is involved in advising other new Chairs in the local area in order to secure school improvement.

 

Alan Miller

Alan runs his own business carrying out general building repairs and maintenance.  In the past Alan has served as Chair and Vice Chair of the Governing Body.  Alan’s particular area of expertise is Health and Safety and he acted as the link Governor for a number of years.  During this time he regularly conducted site tours with the Site Manager.

 

Andy Weston

Andy is a Chartered Certified Accountant and a senior manager and member of the Leadership Team at Yarlington Housing Group, a Times Top 100 organisation with an annual turnover of £50m and assets of over £200m.  He is responsible for all aspects of financial reporting, budget setting, management accounts and the production of the financial statements, as well as the purchase and sales ledger functions and procurement.  Andy has previously been a Governor at Preston Primary for 8 years during which time he has chaired the Finance and Premises Committee and has been the Vice Chair of Governors.

 

Becky Keen (Baths & Wells DBE Trust)

Becky was a parent and Governor at the founding school Preston C of E Primary for many years and subsequently became a Member of the Trust.

With her teaching background, Becky provides further educational experience. Becky’s main role as a member of the Trust is to ensure that the Church schools within the Trust maintain their Christian status and ethos.

In her personal life, Becky is a professional Counsellor.

Peter Levey

Peter Levey 1

Peter is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (FCA) and has been in practice for over 40 years.  His expertise lies in all matters financial and fiscal.  Peter has also been a school governor for about 7 years in total and has gained experience in that field.  He is presently vice chairman of the Trust and chairman of the Finance committee.

Bernie Green

Bernie was previously Head teacher at Preston Primary for 10 years, taking the school from a “satisfactory” judgement prior to her arrival, to “outstanding” in January 2012.  She was key in the decision to convert to Academy status in November 2013.  Prior to this appointment at Preston, Bernie was Head teacher at Abbas and Templecombe Primary School for 9 years.  This school was awarded an outstanding Judgement in 2006 and 2009.  Her track record in school improvement is unquestionable.  As a National Leader of Education, she has been involved in supporting school improvement in many schools over the past 14 years; initially through programmes such as the ISP (Improving School Programme).  Bernie is committed to a collaborative approach in providing an excellent education for all pupils.  As joint lead in the Wessex Teaching School she plans and delivers Leadership and School improvement training across Somerset.  Sponsorship of other schools is a natural development of this work.  During her 10 years at Preston Primary School she has developed a strong, capable team who are enthusiastic and excited about the prospect of sponsorships through a Multi Academy Trust structure.  Capacity within the Academy is excellent.

Paul Murley

Employed by Agusta Westland for 44 years completing many engineering roles, retiring at 59 with the title of Engineering Services Manager (providing the services required to support 800 Design and Development Engineers).  Founder member of the Agusta Westland Christian Fellowship.  Paul was a Governor for 22 years at Westfield Academy, chairing Personnel and Curriculum Committees.  He is also responsible as Training Coordinator.

Louise Orton

After studying for an Economics degree and PGCE in Mathematics, her career has been in education: teaching Maths, Head of Maths and school leadership in schools both in the UK and overseas. She was appointed Deputy Head (Teaching and Learning) at Sherborne Girls school (known for its all-round education and Christian foundation) in January 2014. Her specific skills include performance management of staff, recruitment, curriculum design, school timetabling and meeting the individual needs of pupils. She has a DSL level 3 qualification and is a trained team inspector of overseas independent schools.

Diane Kirby

Having retired as Head of Maths at Sherborne Girls in August 2018, Diane has started training as an adviser for Citizens Advice in Sherborne. Before becoming a teacher, Diane qualified as a chartered accountant with Grant Thornton in 1987, worked as an auditor for Price Waterhouse in Australia, and as a financial accountant for a number of blue chip companies in the UK.

 

 

 

Sue Schaffer

Sue was invited to join GKN Aerospace as a Global Learning and Development Officer following the closure of the GKN Yeovil site in 2017. She is responsible for developing training programmes and for the Learning & Development system for a global audience of over 67000 people.  Sue is highly experienced and has worked within Human resources for over 25 years as an HR Generalist covering all aspects within the function. Previous experience within education includes carrying out the role of Clerk to Governors to a local primary school and being on the governing board at Templecombe School.
